What are Solar Hot Water Rebates?

Switch to a Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump Hot Water System and you may be eligible for a Government solar hot water rebate. Rebates are financial incentives created to encourage investment in renewable energy sources – such as a Reclaim Energy CO2 Heat Pump Hot Water System.

Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)

STCs are rebates available nationally that can offset the initial cost of your CO2 Heat Pump Hot Water System. An STC is a measure of renewable energy that can be traded for cash, or a discount, on the purchase price of a hot water system. Each STC represents a megawatt hour (MWh) per year of electricity displaced by an eligible system. To ensure STCs are valid, they must be created within 12 months of the system being installed. Australia is divided into five STC rebate zones based on how much renewable energy can be generated by a heat pump system in a given area. For more information on STCs go to the Clean Energy Regulator website CLICK HERE

Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs)

In Victoria only, set by the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, VEECs are available as rebates, where a VEEC is awarded for installing a heat pump to replace less efficient electric water heater. Each VEEC represents one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent abated by the eligible system carrying out a specified energy saving activity. For more information on VEECs, go to the VEU website CLICK HERE

Solar Victoria provides a 50% rebate of up to $1,000 on eligible heat pump hot water systems. For more information go to the Solar Victoria website CLICK HERE

VEU Gas Subsidy

Reclaim Energy is proud to announce that our heat pump systems have been gazetted in line with the VEEC’s scheme. This means that eligible households across Victoria that have gas hot water systems can transition to a Reclaim CO2 Heat Pump Hot Water System and claim VEECs. All our Glass lined and Wise Living Stainless Steel range are now eligible for the gas rebate.

The VEECs program is designed to support Victoria to reduce its green house emissions whilst saving households money over the life of the system. For more information go to the VEU website CLICK HERE

STC Rebate Zones

Australia is divided into five zones based on how much renewable energy can be generated by a solar collector system in a given area.

ESS Rebates (NSW)

How Scheme works

NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) provides financial incentives to install, improve or replace energy savings equipment and appliances in NSW households and businesses. Financial incentives are in the form of tradeable certificates, called energy savings certificates (ESCs). Generally, householders and businesses who fund energy savings activities transfer the right to create ESCs to Accredited Certificate Providers (ACPs), in return for a discount on the cost of the energy savings activity. The notional megawatt hours attributed to energy savings activities determines the number of ESCs that can be created. Certificates are available in NSW only. For more information on ESCs, go to the ESS website CLICK HERE

List of eligible products

Solar and heat pump water heaters have become eligible under this scheme as of 21st of April 2022. Listed Products accepted for HEER Method is available here, this may be updated from time to time CLICK HERE

How to apply for the rebate

To be eligible for this rebate, the homeowner MUST sign up with an approved ACP upfront PRIOR to system installation:

  • To sign up with Green Energy Trading, please go to the website and sign up to the fully online certificate portal – Geo – available at this link: https://greenenergytrading.com.au/geosignup
  • There are a few crucial requirements that must be met PRIOR to an installation taking place, and therefore, the system owners/installers/dealers must be signed up with an ACP (or accredited themselves) before they can commence installing any hot water products. Any installations completed without some of the pre-installation requirements being met will mean those installation is never eligible for ESCs.
  • When the installation is signed up, the Geo platform will calculate ESCs for the eligible installation and offer current trading prices for those Certificates.

My neighbor has a Reclaim Hot Water Heat Pump and I was pretty happy with what the savings he got from off his energy bill as it’s over halved, here in Queensland it’s ideal to have one aswell as it’s a good fit down the side of the house. Peter

Peter, QLD

It was time to upgrade our hot water system due to it was 8 years old and we didn’t want to go through another winter worrying if it would break down so our plumber recommended a Reclaim Energy Hot Water Heat Pump due to it will save us money and the government rebate is fantastic, we are very happy with the system.

Ronnie, NSW

Great thermal output, whisper quiet and it saves us money!
We are a family of 5, so you can imagine how massive our ultility bills can get up to – now I don’t worry so much when the electricity bill comes through.
The Reclaim CO2 heat pump is awesome – thanks to the Australians that designed it!

Christopher, VIC

I did my research and found that the Reclaim Hot Water Heat Pump is the way to go due to the features the controller has and how energy efficient the heat pump is and after I worked out the savings this is the system I need to save me on my hot water bills.

I live in a Melbourne inner suburb and found it’s only 37db which is so quiet and changing from gas is the best thing I have done.

Brooke, VIC

We picked this heat pump to replace an aging; and expensive to run, LPG HWS. It’s amazing how much and how fast this unit puts hot water out, we have big spa baths in a 4 person household and have never had the unit go cold (which a similar sized LPG system would often do). The heat exchanger & fan are ridiculously quiet, it’s installed right outside a bedroom and you can’t hear it with the windows open.  If only we could direct that cool air coming off it into a room in the summer

Jason, NSW

The Reclaim was installed 6 months ago to replace an existing Edwards Solar system (very old).  It will be connected to PV when they are installed. Whisper quiet running, quick heat recharge and no complaints from the two users.

Rob, QLD

The demand for hot water is good we have not run out of hot water since we have had the system installed and there is at least for to five people showering every day and not short showers either as far as heat goes the people that installed the system set the meter

Jess, WA

We’ve had ours for a few weeks and love it! The water is hot, it doesn’t take long to heat up, there’s plenty of it and the fan is quiet.

Paul, VIC
